Case Results
Recently, we represented a client who was a passenger in pickup truck. The truck suddenly experienced tread separation in the left rear tire. The unexpected tread separation caused the vehicle to pull in the direction of the failed tire. This caused the truck to overturn. The driver died in the accident and the client survived. Team Madrid immediately investigated the history of the tire, the manufacturer of the tire, the litigation history of that particular tire and the pending actions against the tire manufacturer across the country. After a lawsuit was filed and the parties engaged in pretrial discovery, the tire company opted to attend a mediation conference.
Result: Case Settled.
Team Madrid represented an individual who was assigned to work removing plastic by palming off excess wrap around plastic from the tempering roll of a bubble station of a bubble line machine at a temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The client's glove was caught in the roller and severely burned and crushed client's hand. In an effort to extricate his injured hand with his other hand, his other hand was also caught, crushed and burned. Team Madrid proceeded to Toronto, Canada to depose all the engineers who designed, manufactured and installed the machine. The end result was that they failed to install the machine with the appropriate safety pull cords that would deactivate the machine in an emergency. The carrier for the manufacturer immediately set up a mediation conference.
Result: Case Settled for Seven Figures.
