Erica L. Madrid, Esq.

State Bar No: 229327

Erica Madrid has been a trial lawyer for over 10 years. Erica is known for her preparation, tenacity and effective representation of clients in criminal cases and DMV proceedings.

During her career, Erica has tried misdemeanor, driving under the influence [DUI] and felony trials to verdicts. She has also assisted her dad in major felony and civil trials. Erica has also co-counseled with other prominent trial lawyers who are leading authorities in the DUI and criminal defense fields.

Erica's most recent trial victories include: A Not Guilty Verdict on a domestic violence case in Los Angeles County; A Not Guilty Verdict on a child endangerment case in Riverside County and A Not Guilty Verdict on a felony domestic violence, criminal threat and felony evading case in San Bernardino County. In all of these cases, Erica's clients were facing significant jail time and double digit state prison exposure on the felony case.

Erica represented a client who was arrested for DUI on the 4th of July. The client's blood alcohol was .17, .18, which is over twice the legal limit. The police report had the client driving erratically, almost causing two traffic collisions, and driving on the wrong side of the boulevard. Most lawyers would have plead him guilty and called it a day. Not Erica!

Erica requested all audio and video tapes associated with the traffic stop, detention and arrest. Upon reviewing the video tape, it was discovered that the entire driving pattern was captured on videotape. The client did not commit any traffic violations as set forth in the officer's report or drive on the wrong side of the road. Erica filed a P.C. § 1538.5 Motion to Suppress, the motion was granted and the case dismissed. The Madrid Law Firm then filed a Civil Rights claim on behalf of their client for the violation of their client's constitutional rights and successfully prosecuted the claim culminating in a settlement under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.

Erica took the lead in an assault and battery case, which resulted in a reversal of a summary judgment order. After oral argument before the Court of Appeal, Justice Bedsworth complimented Erica on her briefing of the case as being "excellent". The case was certified for publication. See Juan R. Flores v.
